Hello!
My name is Francois Malinowski and I am currently a student in the final year of a Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA).
The emphasis of my Master is in systems. Thus I took classes and had projects in Operating Systems, Cloud Computing, Computer Architecture, Scalable Web services, Database Systems and so on. But I also took classes in other areas to widen my knowledge such as Advanced Algorithms, Information Retrieval, Network Science, etc.
Prior to doing my Master of Science at UCSB, I was a Full-stack Software Engineer at AppFolio, Inc. where I gained experience in both Backend and Frontend. AppFolio is a fast paced growing company that went IPO in June 2015 and they recently won a Glassdoor Employee's Choice award that highlights a culture of happy employees at AppFolio!
I also graduated from a French "Grande Ecole" (Graduate School) in Computer Science with a "Diplome d'Ingenieur" in 2013.

Development and improvement of the Property Manager web based product. Among the work done:
- Changed the authentication system of the tenant portal.
- Responsive website (smartphones, tablets and desktops) containing the vacancy listings for the prospective tenants. Example of the result here.
- Development of a Rails application displaying, on an interactive map, all the property vacancies with the rental information from all our customers.
- Development of a Rails application displaying, on a map, the live connections to our servers and all the live payments.
Software Engineer Intern

SecureDocs is a cloud based solution for the storage of critical documents such as contracts, patents, etc.
SecureDocs was a product of AppFolio, Inc at the time of my internship.
Development of new features for SecureDocs. Among the work done:
- Optimization and improvement of the front-end experience such as sorting thousands of documents and folders by criteria.
- Import of folders and documents by drag and drop over the internet browser.
- Security analysis to make sure that all the documents were encrypted at each stage of the import and export.
- Export of an audit log tracking all the activity of the online data room to a CSV file.
- Daily notifications by email about the latest imported files, which the user is permissioned to view, with the links to access them.
Software Engineer Intern

Developed a Microsoft Excel (XML) report generator for military device tests. Among the work done:
- Report generator that generated 3 different customizable reports showing the success or failure of about 10 hours of tests done on an aircraft military device.
